Aparna & Norden Wangdi

Aparna and Norden Wangdi studio was established in the year 1999 by the husband and wife duo, both products of the prestigious NIFT New Delhi with the collected experiences of Norden’s stint in New York and Aparna’s in different fields of design. The NIFT final collection was chosen for presentation to the royal family of Britain.

The duo focuses on interesting cuts and detailing, working extensively with Indian textiles across India. designers are constantly experimenting with fabric on fabric texturing, innovative quilting , multiple layering, experimental asymmetrical silhouettes, continuous seams, color blocking and other subtle details which make an A&NW garment unique.

After their debut in India Fashion Week in 2000,  Elle marked them among the top eight talents in the industry, Couture Asia  bracketing them higher, Elle named Aparna in 2005  with nine other women super achievers A & N W  collections retail from many design stores across India and internationally from UK, USA,Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, Netherlands etc.

Apart from various shows across the globe, they have also collaborated with many corporates and ins titutes in design projects with clients like Mahindra Motors, Claridges, ONGC, The German and French embassy to name a few. They were chosen by the Bhutan Royal family to design costumes for a theatre production for them and were invited to design for Lady Gaga when she came to India. The duo love to do projects in other design fields as they feel that this keeps the design channel inspired.They have done costumes for big international productions , (most notable being the Indo French opera by Muzaffar Ali ‘Fakir of Benares’).

While Aparna has been also styling, partnering in a foodline and sharing her experiences with design students,Norden has been experimenting doing design innovations in building processes. They are currently working on their dream project, building their eco resort in the hills, where each cottage is designed with unique environmental concepts.
